"Cosmopolotism and nostalgia"

Erasmus already noted at the beginning of the 16th century: "The whole world is my home country". Nowadays every internet user shares the feel which Erasmus described through the many windows which show the world as presented by the media. Cosmopolitism changes the humanity and thus it changes us. More and more Dutch people feel connected with developments in a far away country. The feeling of regional or national unity makes place for a world citizenship. "To be a cosmopolitan you need to feel at home in various different cultures" as said by Ian Buruma , laureate of the Erasmus price 2008.
